Space Weather Hazards
The purpose of WP 1700 Space Weather Hazards is the assessment of the SWE impact
i) on Earth’s environment, down to the ground and in the ionosphere;
ii) in space travel
taking into consideration both hazards for technological systems and for the human body in space.
WPs
The South Atlantic Anomaly refers to an area where our protective shield is weak. This image shows the magnetic field strength at Earth’s surface on the 14th of August 2018 based on data collected by the Swarm satellite constellation.
